I love my mat. You can use it in so many ways. Whether it's the heat, the PEMF programs, the effect of the crystals or the red light, they all make the product versatile and exciting! How is this different from HigherDOSE, BON CHARGE or Hooga?
Three things. The Elvari mat runs on 36 V direct current, so there is no alternating mains field under your body. It gives you manual frequency control from 1 to 999 Hz in 0.1 Hz steps plus 122 programs, where most mats offer a handful of fixed levels. Where is the Elvari mat from?
Elvari was founded in Germany in 2023. The mat is designed and quality-controlled by our team in Germany and made by our long-standing partner factory in China, like virtually every mat in this category. US orders ship from our warehouse in Pennsylvania.
Does the mat emit EMF?
Every PEMF mat emits a pulsed magnetic field on purpose; that's the therapy. What the Elvari mat does not emit is the 60 Hz alternating field that comes with mains-powered heating wires. The transformer sits at the wall outlet, the mat itself runs on 36 V DC, and the heating wire is a low-EMF twisted design. If you switch the PEMF off, you lie on heat and light only, with no field at all.
How hot does it get, and can I sleep on it?
The far-infrared heat is adjustable from 86 to 158 °F in ten steps. Most customers use 104 to 122 °F. For the night, use the lower range and the timer; the mat switches off by itself. Two independent overheat protections (a thermal cut-off and a bimetal sensor) are built into the heating layer.
Why are there crystals in different colors?
For two reasons. First, the heat: warmed from below, the crystals give off far-infrared themselves and make the deep heat more intense and more even. Second, the colors: each stone is chosen to balance one of the chakras, the energy centers of the body in traditional Indian teaching. For some customers that's an important part of their ritual. For many, it's simply about the deep heat. Both are good reasons.
How long is a session?
Most customers use the mat for 30 minutes a day, often in the evening. Start with low heat and build up from there; longer sessions or a sleep program with the timer at night are fine too. The controller remembers your last temperature and program.
Who should not use the magnetic field?
We advise against using the PEMF function during pregnancy, with pacemakers or other electronic or magnetic implants, with epilepsy or other seizure disorders, with severe heart rhythm disorders, and for children under seven. Heat and light can be used independently of the magnetic field. With varicose veins, use the heat only after checking with your doctor; with reduced heat sensation, keep temperatures low. When in doubt, ask your physician.

Is it a medical device? Is it FDA approved?
No, and we don't claim it is. The Elvari mat is a wellness device by choice. A medical certification would add six figures to our costs and years to every improvement; we put that money into coils, LEDs and craftsmanship instead. It means we make no medical claims, and you should not expect it to treat a condition.
How much electricity does it use?
Up to 320 W at full heat, less at the settings most people use. An hour a day at full power costs roughly five to six dollars a month at average US electricity rates.
Can I use it on a bed, a sofa or the floor?
Yes. The mat weighs 35 lb and is firm, so it works best on a flat surface: a mattress, a futon, a yoga mat on the floor or a massage table. It folds in three and comes with a carry bag.
Can I pay over time, or use HSA/FSA funds?
