So you're thinking about buying a BEMER?
Read this short guide before you buy.
Maybe your physical therapist uses one, or a friend became a distributor and keeps telling you about it. At $4,590 for the Basic-Set, you want to be sure it's the right device, and that it fits your life.
My name is Jan, and I'm the founder of Elvari. We make a similar mat. This is an honest take on what the BEMER system does really well, and what our mat does differently, if you're looking for an alternative.
What BEMER gets right
Credit where credit is due. BEMER has been building PEMF devices since 1998 and has done what most brands in this category never try: it took its system through the FDA. The current Evo line is cleared under 510(k) K231368 for specific uses, which BEMER lists on its product-safety page. It publishes the field strength of its pads, the control unit can run two applicators at once, and the optional battery stand makes it truly portable. BEMER also adds a third year to its standard two-year guarantee. That's a serious, well-engineered product.
If you're dealing with any of these, a PEMF system like BEMER's could be a really good solution for you:
- Trouble falling asleep or staying asleep
- Stress that follows you into the evening
- Chronic pain, a stiff back or achy joints
- Sore, tense muscles after training or a long day
What to look for in a good therapy mat
- The offer. Compare price, guarantee and warranty, and check what is actually in the box.
- How the therapies are made. Frequency range, number of coils and number of LEDs decide what you really get from PEMF, heat and light.
- How the mat is built. Size, weight, surface and how easily it folds away after use.

The therapies
| BEMER Basic-Set Evo | Elvari 3-in-1 |
|---|---|
| PEMF with 3 programs and 3 intensity levelsthe "BEMER signal"; no frequency setting published | PEMF 1–999 Hz in 0.1 Hz stepsplus 122 programs |
| 16 PEMF coils in the B.Body Evo | 29 PEMF coils across the whole mat |
| No heat | Far-infrared heat, 86–158 °F, adjustable by the degree |
| No red light in the padLight-Pack Evo with two handheld lights, $1,090 | 60 red-light LEDs (660 nm) |
| No near-infrared light in the pad | 29 near-infrared LEDs (850 nm) |
| Microfiber surface over a foam core | Natural crystal layer |
| FDA-cleared, 510(k) K231368 (2023)"to temporarily increase local blood circulation in healthy leg muscles" | Wellness device, not FDA-cleared |
This is where the two stop being the same kind of product. BEMER does one thing, pulsed fields, and has a clearance for it. Its pad doesn't heat and has no light. The Elvari mat runs PEMF, far-infrared heat and red plus near-infrared light at the same time, on one surface. If you want warmth and light from BEMER, there is no way to get it in the pad, and the handheld Light-Pack alone costs almost as much as our whole mat.

Common questions and answers
How much does a BEMER mat cost?
In the US, the Basic-Set Evo with the full-body pad lists at $4,590 in BEMER's shop. The Classic-Set Evo is $5,490 and the Premium-Set Evo $5,890. Shipping, handling and tax are extra. The B.Body Evo pad alone is $909, but it only runs with the B.Box Evo control unit, which comes in the sets.
Is BEMER FDA approved?
It's FDA-cleared, which is different from approved. The BEMER Therapy System Evo is cleared through 510(k) K231368 (June 2023) for the uses BEMER lists, such as temporarily increasing local blood circulation in healthy leg muscles. The Elvari mat is sold as a wellness device and is not FDA-cleared.
Does a BEMER mat have heat or red light?
The B.Body Evo pad has neither. BEMER sells light separately as the Light-Pack Evo, two handheld applicators for the skin, for $1,090. The Elvari mat has far-infrared heat up to 158 °F and 89 red and near-infrared LEDs built in.
Why is BEMER sold through distributors?
BEMER USA works with independent distributors who earn commissions on what they sell, and its shop asks for the name of your distributor. You buy the Elvari mat directly from us, at one price.
Does insurance pay for BEMER?
BEMER's own FAQ says it is not covered by health insurance.
